Our project aim to prepare young people to adulthood through partcicipation , engagement and Mentoring. A Mimique of African rituals of passage to adulthood for adolescents.
Our approach encourages the youth to research
family history, connect with each other,
their community and heritage;
So they can feel a sense of belonging, achieve
a stronger identity, and contribute positively
to their community, wherever they are in the world.
Ensemble provides French lessons online for
children and young people.
This is a fun and easy way to learn the French language,
alongside the history of Migration and settlement
of the Cameroonian Diaspora of Greater Manchester
recorded through oral history.
Elders recount rituals and traditions around how births are celebrated with naming ceremonies and blessings, how marriages unite families and communities, and how departed loved ones are honoured with respect and sacred traditions. Through these rituals and traditions, our youth will see themselves as part of a lineage and community. They will learn traditional values of resilience, community, and respect for life’s milestones. According to research, when young people learn from their elders’ wisdom, it *helps them keep their culture alive, make wiser life decisions, and truly understand who they are. At the same time, the elders themselves gain fulfilment and even healing by passing on their knowledge – creating a powerful intergenerational bond of mutual respect and healing.
